Our Elementary School begins with a Junior Kindergarten and continues through Grade 8.  This program includes a strong academic curriculum taught in a Christian environment by Christian teachers.

Admission Policies

Junior Kindergarten:

Children enrolling in Junior Kindergarten must be 5 years old on or before December 1 of the current school year. They generally are not quite developmentally ready for a full Kindergarten curriculum but desire a more advanced program that regular Preschool. Eligibility for entrance is determined by the principal based on input from parents, early childhood teachers and the results of appropriate assessments. Children who have attended the Junior Kindergarten should expect to attend the regular Kindergarten the following year.

Kindergarten:

The child shall be five years of age on or before September 1 of the current school year.

Admission Procedures (Jr. K and Kindergarten)

  1. Enrollment form on Gradelink must be completed and signed by the parent or guardian. Applicable registration fees must be included as a non-refundable deposit unless admittance is denied by Abiding Savior Lutheran School.
  2. An interview will be conducted with the principal, parents and child.
  3. A placement screening assessment test must be scheduled with Chancy and Bruce for enrollment into Kindergarten. The cost is $50, and made payable to Chancy and Bruce. The assessment testing results will be mailed to the school.
  4. Upon acceptance of the child for enrollment:
          a) The parents must show the school a valid birth certificate to verify birth date.
          b) The parents must present proof of state required inoculations.
          c) The child must receive a physical examination, and have all required state
              tests and immunizations before entering kindergarten. Information about
              state aid for these physicals for lower income families will be provided with
              form.

 

Admission Procedures (Grades 1 through 8)
  1. A child entering first grade must be 6 on or before September 1 of the current school year.
  2. An Application of Enrollment form must be completed and signed by the parent or guardian. Applicable registration fees must be included as a non-refundable deposit unless admittance is denied by Abiding Savior Lutheran School.
  3. Copies of recent achievement test results and report cards must be presented.
  4. An interview will be conducted with the principal, parents and child.
  5. A placement assessment test must be scheduled with Chancy and Bruce. A fee of $50 is payable to Chancy and Bruce. The assessment testing results will be mailed to the school.
  6. Immunization requirements of the State of California must be met.
  7. All previous accounts must be current.

Admission Procedures (International Students)

Abiding Savior is eligible to enroll international students with the proper Student Visas in place. A packet with specific requirements and downloadable forms are available. International students are required to take an English proficiency test upon enrollment and must be enrolled in an ESL class unless adequate proficiency is demonstrated.

We welcome International Students to our campus as an opportunity to mutually learn about our cultures and to witness our Christian faith. It is our intent to enroll no more that two International Students in any class to facilitate integration with English-speaking students and to enable the teacher to adequately meet the needs of all students in the class.

International Students must enroll for at least one year. We do not accept students visiting for only a short time, such as during the Korean January/February winter break, unless they are part of a recognized organization (Cardinal U.S.A.), which organizes and supervises a specific program. Inclusion of these short-term students is dependent upon available space.
